Job Description

Job Description:

  • Provide daily, project-based technical support to production and sales departments
  • Facilitate company-wide technology rollouts
  • Assist project managers and linguists in troubleshooting issues related to the translation process
  • Validate new features in the CAT tool, TM Server and Analysis Package products
  • Management of Translation Memories (TMs)
  • Analysis of web sites and applications for localization potential, indentifying key points to be considered during the localization process
  • Write scripts and/or macros in various programming languages to automate repetitive tasks performed by Project Managers
  • Prepare various file types for the localization process (including re-coding and script writing as needed) to ensure compliance with clients’ requirements and integrity of data
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and internal sales to provide input during pre-sale planning of projects
  • Provide quotes on new, large-scale projects for Sales and Production upon request
  • Work closely with Software Product Managers to:

o Collect user stories from product stakeholders

o Define new features and improvements of the software products

o Provide test cases for QA

o Provide documentation and training to product users

o Report and test fixes for bugs found by product users

  • Perform any other tasks that are deemed appropriate for the role and assigned by the manager/supervisor

 

Required Skills:

  • Fluency in written and verbal English
  • Strong knowledge of computer, scripting, and markup languages including (but not necessarily all of) VB, VBA, C++, Perl, ASP, Java, JSP, XML, HTML, XLIFF
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe software, and Internet software
  • Knowledge of Translation Memory/CAT Tools (Wordfast, SDLTrados, MemoQ)
  • Knowledge of regular expressions and XPath
  • Avid curiosity and desire to improve processes

Required Experience and qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent
  • 1-2 years experience in a related field, with experience as a Localization Engineer highly preferred
  • Experience as Project Lead on a notable and/or innovative industry specific development highly preferred

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Fluency in a foreign language
  • Knowledge of Mac and Linux platforms
  • Experience with Content Management Systems
  • Knowledge of Software Localization tools (Catalyst, Passolo, Silk)
