How to Become a Telugu Language Pandit ?

Telugu is a South-central Dravidian language native to India. It stands alongside Hindi, English and Bengali as one of the few languages with official primary language status in more than one Indian state; Telugu is the primary language in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and significant linguistic minorities in other neighboring states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra. It is one of six languages designated as “Classical language” of India by the country’s government.

The Telugu language ranks third in the population with the number of native speakers in India (74 million, 2001 census), sixteenth in the Ethnologue list of most-spoken languages worldwide. It is one of the twenty-two scheduled languages of the Republic of India.

The first step in becoming a professional telugu translator is being as fluent as a native language speaker . Generally, one of the languages is either Hindi or English and other being Telugu . So, knowing two languages and the ability to type is just the first step. While a degree in Language courses is preferred but not required. Language Pandit Training Course is one such course after Bachelor’s degree. Both Andhra Pradesh & Telangana state conduct Language Pandit Common Entrance Test for admission to one year Language Pandit Training Course (LPT) in government IASE/CTE’s and Private Language Training Colleges across both the states.

The minimum educational requirement to become a telugu pandit is BA (Telugu Literature) or BA (Oriental Language – Telugu) or Bachelor of Oriental Language Telugu or A Graduate degree with optional subject Telugu or MA (Telugu).
